I have had the release date for my next novel posted in the right hand column of this blog now for several months, but something happened to me yesterday that may push the thing back even further.
More story popped into my head.
After wincing and shaking my fist at the powers that be who see fit to create these strange worlds that exist in the ether that is my imagination, I decided to give in. The problem with this is that it will push my novel’s release date even further back, and I know that there are people counting on reading something on August 1st as originally planned. I also know that in order to get a good product out there, I will have to go through a meticulous editing process by way of proof readers, professional editors, my mother who catches every type-o and tells me how an average reader takes the narrative and a myriad of other tricks that I have employed to ensure that what is produced is the best I have to offer. So I have reached a decision, and that decision is broken down into two parts that are all rather unconventional:
1. Installments – I have divided the novel into three “books” which will be released within two to three months of one another. The novel is entitled This Broken Earth, so the first installment is entitled Book I: The U.S. of After and will be released on the planned date of August 1st. The second installment, Book II: The U.S.S. Ronald Reagan will be released on October 31st, 2012. The third and final installment, Book III: Babylon the Great will be released on December 21st, 2012.
2. Digital to Print Release – I will release all three parts of This Broken Earth via Kindle, Nook and Smashwords for the low price of .99 cents. Once all three books are released, I will release a compiled version of all three through those formats for $2.99. I will also release an Amazon CreateSpace version of the book and then do the book signings and book promotion that I usually do when releasing a book. The plan for this to happen is January 17th, 2013.
If all goes well, I will have released the book in a manner that will hopefully build an even bigger readership than my first novel and through social networking and blogging hopefully I can garner even more readers. I’d like to thank all of you who have helped me build my platform through this blog so far, and I hope that by releasing this book in this manner it will give me the time I need to produce the best possible post-apocalyptic supernatural love-story thriller I can squeeze out of this addled brain of mine.
Now back to the hard work I so thoroughly enjoy!
Glad to hear this Roger! All the best to you!
Sounds good. Best of luck.
