Well, here we are. The midpoint. We are now 15 days away from the deadline and many of you should have most of your novel completed if you want to spend some quality time editing and revising.
I have a few encouraging words for you today so that you will not quit when you have just now gone over the midway hump:
“Writing a novel is like driving a car at night. You can see only as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.” –E. L. Doctorow
“Real courage is when you know you’re licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what.” –Harper Lee
“Perfectionism is the voice of the oppressor. Perfectionism will ruin your writing, blocking inventiveness and playfulness and life force. Clutter is a wonderfully fertile ground–you can still discover new treasures under all those piles, clean things up, edit things out, fix things, get a grip.” –Anne Lamott, Bird By Bird
“There is no Idea Dump, no Story Central, no Island of the Buried Bestsellers; good stories seem to come quite literally from nowhere, sailing at you right out of the empty sky.” –Stephen King, On Writing
“The best time for planning a book is when you’re doing the dishes.” –Agatha Christie
“I’m not a very good writer, but I’m an excellent rewriter.” –James Michener
”Writing a book is a horrible, exhausting struggle, like a long bout of some painful illness. One would never undertake such a thing if one were not driven on by some demon whom one can neither resist nor understand.” –George Orwell
Above all:
1. Hang in there.
2. Don’t quit.
3. Refer to #1
Reblogged this on Laith's Ramblings and commented:
My crazy couple days ins continuing, so instead of my NaNoWriMo
Quote today I’m going to reblog this inspirational quote fest.
Thank you!
You’re welcome! I really liked the quotes.
Also not sure how the reblog function works so I don’t know if you got notified, but I got two pingbacks on the post so I’m not the only one who liked it.
