One Book Every Self-Publisher Needs to Devour

I just finished reading a book by Guy Kawasaki and Shawn Welch that is everything a self-publisher needs to know about self-publishing and how to be successful in that area.  It’s called APE: Author, Publisher, Entrepreneur-How to Publish a Book.

Basically, it is a book written by someone who knows the industry and how it works, showing you how to go from an author to a publisher to an entrepreneur.  These three things are essential if you want your self-published novel to be a success.  I have used some of the ideas set forth by this self-publisher’s Bible and I have found them to be very successful tools.  Some of these tools are how to build a solid author platform, how to utilize social media and how to approach literary agents intelligently.

There are millions of “get rich quick” books out there that are complete garbage, where APE gives real world information and tips that will get a writer/self-publisher on the right track.  This book is definitely NOT one of those film-flam books that are all over the internet hawking pie in the sky methods that really don’t work, costing the poor sucker only $29.95.

It is a book not for the faint of heart, giving the self-publisher information that is sometimes scathing but always to the point and practical.  Go pick up a copy or download a Kindle version NOW.

On a side note, I am still in contact with a literary agent who is taking some time (a few weeks) to look over my novel and then get back with me about what she can do for me.  I won’t publish This Broken Earth until I hear from her, and here’s hoping it goes well.  Wish me luck!
