It has garnered several five star reviews: (none of whom are family <grin>)

“I’ve never read a self-published book or indy-book before. I stumbled across Mr. Colby’s book via a blog post I found.  The story was a real page turner. I loved the use of the multiple narrative concept and loved how these were even diversified beyond just the human protagonists. I’m sure a great literary scholar may suggest that we don’t know any of the characters deep enough, but the work is still strong, in my opinion.  The way I know that this book was terrific for me is this: I’m a Christian, but would never have thought about getting into a Christian-apocalyptic work (they’ve always seemed hokey to me). In other words, this series is something I’d typically have nothing to do with, but I really felt satisfied reading through all three of these books.  Very well done.”

“Had a hard time putting this down & finished it over a weekend, well done! The author combined three things I really like: post apocalypse lit., the gospel of Christ & The Screwtape Letters. All this in a realistic, non-cheesy format that was a great read. Make sure you read the forward for an explanation, as the author’s format for the book requires paying close attention & the book really requires you to think & invest in the characters.”

This is his best work thus far. Its a fun read with deep meaning. Although it hits close to home, since it is set near where I live, its subject matter is universal. Bottom line, if you like post apocalyptic; you’ll like this book. Its definitely worth checking out.”

“This is not only a great read, but a fantastic homage reminiscent of both Mad Max and The Walking Dead. Though there are many familiar elements to this story that pay tribute to those that have come before, it is a great story within it self. If you are a fan of the genre this is a must read. Thought it is a genre storyline it is a story just about anyone can enjoy. This is a definite 5 Star in my collection!”

I often wondered as a kid what it’d be like to survive an apocalyptic war…  Although I tend to prefer reading non-fiction, i found this quite entertaining, to the point that I had to force myself to put this book down because my time was booked with other
commitments (finished the book in a couple of days).  The story unfolds in an interesting manner: a series of narrations from various characters’ point of view.  A recommended read.

  1. Is the 5-day promotion only available in the U.S.? When I requested it on Amazon, it wasn’t listed as free. Not that I’m begrudging the $.99. I’m just a curious Canadian. 🙂
