Trying Out Wattpad: A Beta-Reading Experience

I have known about Wattpad.com for some time now, but have never thought about giving it a go until now.  I do have many beta-readers who will read my novels and give great commentary and criticism, but nothing beats a host of strangers reading your novel and then telling you what they think.

If they like it, and you publish it, you may have a ton of readers who will buy the book just to finish reading the thing.  They might even tweet it or share it with their friends and build a grass-roots following.

So here are the first three chapters of “The Last Terran”, the first book in “The Five Rims” series.  I appreciate feedback, votes, and above all honest criticism.  Thanks in advance.

  1. I love Wattpad! It’s such a great site to get in touch with your readers and get their feed back on your work. I look forward to reading the chapters you’ve posted.

    1. Thanks! I actually re-wrote these chapters recently. The weird alien names were replaced with names that Guillermo (the protagonist) made up on the fly for each character based on how he felt about them at the moment. The insectoid aliens communicate using pheromones and body language only, so being able to pronounce or much less articulate their names properly would be impossible for a human.

  2. I joined Wattpad two years ago when I read an article about Margaret Atwood that mentioned her involvement with Wattpad. Then promptly forgot about it. Then remembered but was too chicken to post my work for complete strangers. Then decided to but have been procrastinating. 😉
Good for you for sharing your work. Will check it out.
