New Podcast Up: Sensitive Suicide Squad

Podcast Logo NewIn this episode we discuss two children’s books: “A Birthday Cake for George Washington” by Ramin Ganeshram and “A Fine Dessert: Four Centuries, For Families, One Delicious Treat” by Emily Jenkins.

One of these books was banned recently and pulled from Scholastic’s list of books while the other was hailed as an achievement in children’s books.  It all boils down to the feeling that one of them was offensive and the other one was not.

We tackle this issue head-on and give some (hopefully) good advice about writing about controversial topics.  What is too controversial and what kind of topics can cross the line with readers?  We discuss this issue in depth.

We also talk about the awesome new “Suicide Squad” trailer that is buzzing around the internet like a mint condition Action Comics #12 if you found it at a garage sale for 10 cents.
