It’s been a busy month. I haven’t posted in nearly three weeks, and that is really a record for me. I usually post something about writing or at least something about my writing journey every week.
I’ve been slacking.
Actually, I’ve been insanely busy. I’m in the middle of working on the third book in the Five Rims series and working on a side project tentatively titled This You Are Forbidden To Know. It’s a Lovecraftian satirical novella about the current political state of affairs in Oklahoma, and it’s coming along nicely.
The gum in the works, however, is the day job. My school started the four day workweek and since my planning period is the last hour of the day, each day at first felt like a four week work day.
I’m adjusting, however, and now feel like I’m getting ahead of it all, but four preps (two of them being honors classes) are going to be a challenge. The biggest challenge will be finding time to write when the demands of my four teens lives and interests must take precedence over my wishes and desires (namely writing).
I have friends who usually see me who don’t see me anymore, namely because I’m grading papers or writing or helping my daughter build a wooden doll house she found at the back of our deceased grandmother’s closet. My son drums for the school band and for his church worship band. My other daughter is a manager for the middle school track team. None of them drive…yet.The lesson in all this?
Writing is something that you have to devote time and energy to, which is not just the actual sitting down and churning out word counts. It takes planning, thought, and more planning. I have to find time during the week to do this, and have currently worked out a routine that seems to be working for now.
I’m still running an upcoming price reduction for my newest novel coming in a few days. I’ll post when that goes live. The Terminarch War will be .99 cents for seven days. So far things are going well there, sales wise. Thanks to all who have purchased a copy. I appreciate that more than you know.

Writing Is Hard Work
