I agree with knowing who you are writing for, as a goal to reach for.I think someone told me that the first year I started writing a novel, in ’13.
One thing that I appreciate is that you talk about the issues with kids who don’t take literature from high school seriously without completely panning these great books in lieu of a Cliff notes style of teaching that I keep reading about.
Also my son and I are going through the old testament. Isaiah was a mouthful as you say, but coming back to context, by reading it after we’d read the books that came before it, we gained so much from it.
